Bishop Dr L. Newland was born in Duanvale, Trelawny, Jamaica and is
the National Bishop and President of Redemption Faith Assemblies
UK, a Ministry which is going places under God. He has more than
forty years of ministry experience during which time he served in
New Testament Church of God Jamaica in the following capacities:
,
National Evangelist for Jamaica and Grand Cayman, the pastor for
some twelve congregations including being one of the youngest
District Bishops on the Island then.
He has served in the New Testament Church of God England & Wales
as National Evangelist for six and half years, Pastor & District Bishop
and he also served on ecumenical bodies in the community. During
this time of ministry he has travelled extensively to Grand Cayman,
Aruba, USA, and Canada preaching the gospel.
Bishop Newland is a Christian Social Care Developer (i.e. Chaplain).
He became a qualified chaplain after studying community service
chaplaincy at Church of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland
Tennessee, USA, with their Department of Chaplaincy in 2003. He
became the first clergy in 'England to be ordained International
Chaplain and Ambassador at Large to the United Nations through
Covenant international University and seminary on May ninth 2015.
He has worked as chaplain in the following prisons, HM Aylesbury
Young Offenders Institution (HMYOI) for over five years, HMP
Bullingdon, HMP Rye Hill, chaplain manager at HMP Dove Gate.
He was a regular visitor to HMP Holloway women prison and HMP
Wormwood Scrubs preaching, both in London among others. Bishop
Newland is director for Covenant International University College of
Chaplaincy (UK), training Christian workers and leaders to become
chaplains. He has set up Life after Prison Counselling Service aiming
to help ex-prisoners and family members deal with life after prison.
He has served part-time as a chaplain with Birmingham & Solihull
NHS Mental Health Department giving pastoral care and support to
the elderly and mentally ill and he is also a support worker.
He received a MA from the European Theological College. He studied
leadership and management at Hampstead Bible College, London. He
graduated from Mount Olive Bible Institute & Seminary in 2011 with
a PhD Doctorate in Theology. He is now Vice Chancellor for Mount
Olive Bible Institute & Seminary UK. Bishop Dr. Newland also holds a City
& Guilds Diploma in Health and Social Care (Generic), and a
qualification level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care
from NCFE (National Council for Further Education UK). Bishop Dr. Newland is a member of the Bishops’ Council of the Joint Council of Churches for All Nations (JCCAN). He is married to his lovely wife Julet and he is the father to four adult daughters including a step daughter.
