With a divinely ordained assignment to assist the Body of Christ in aligning with a scriptural model of order, governance and churchmanship, the Most Reverend Dr Otis V. Wilks has for a number of years supported churches and ministries in developing their ordained, licensed, and appointed leaders, and those seeking to enter these areas of Kingdom service. For more than 10 years Archbishop Wilks has also given consultative and practical assistance to leaders preparing for elevation into the bishopric and guidance to their churches in their transition from ‘parish’ to
‘cathedral’ church status.
As a preacher, the archbishop has a clear focus upon “bringing a living Christ to a dying world” by preaching and teaching a radical, transformative and holistic presentation of the Christ – who, through His absolute humanity is immanent enough to identify with our theological, psychological and anthropological flaws, yet who, through His absolute divinity, is transcendent enough both to hold, and to be, the solution. In his role as a community leader, Dr Wilks has been invited to consult with the Office of the (UK) Deputy Prime Minister, and has contributed to such initiatives as the writing of Racial & Religious Hatred Act and the government’s urban regeneration project.
An alumnus of the European Theological Seminary (Black Forest, Germany), the London School of Theology and the prestigious King’s College London (University of London), and having at these institutions earned undergraduate, degree and postgraduate qualifications in both Theology and Religious Education, the Bishop has been widely recognized as an “outstanding” and "inspirational" educator. While serving as Archbishop and Primate of the Tabernacle of Refuge, Dr Wilks is also Chancellor of the Destiny Bible College in Kumasi, Ghana and Dean of the Grace City Bible College in Ghent, Belgium, through which preachers, leaders and others called to ministry are being
prepared, both theologically and practically, to execute their divine calling in this modern age.
A Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching (FCCT), Bishop Wilks is in the final stages of pursuing Chartered Manager (CMgr) and Fellow (FCMI) status with the Chartered Management Institute. His strategic leadership of both theological and secondary education has impacted the lives of thousands, many of whom have become world-changers
and pioneers in their own right, both within the church and beyond it.
Believing, however, that leaders of learning should also be leaders who are in learning, Dr Wilks’s most recent academic pursuits include the successful completion of both an M.Ed in Educational Leadership with the University of Buckingham and a UK government-backed professional development programme for Senior Leaders.
Having served in ministry for more than 20 years – and in a variety of areas, including choir director, Pastor of Christian Education, Lecturer in Theology & Ministry, Senior Pastor, Chorbishop and Auxiliary Bishop, Dr Wilks’ role as an Apostolic Father in the earth was affirmed on Saturday 6 August 2016, upon the occasion of his episcopal
consecration and archiepiscopal enthronement in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
